Megatherium is a species of ground sloth that lived during the Early Pliocene to Early Holocene epochs in what is now South America.

Ka-Zar and other Cavemen name the Megatherium, a Dyryth and are among the largest mammals in Prehistoria along with the Woolly Mammoth. These Ground Sloths live in most environments of Prehistoria except Pandora and mostly thrive in open grasslands and plains unlike their smaller Tree Sloth relatives which lives in Prehistoria's tropical jungles and rainforests.
