Apes are a clade of Old World simians native to Africa and Southeast Asia, which together with its sister group Cercopithecidae form the catarrhine clade. Apes do not have tails due to a mutation of the TBXT gene.

Apes are among some of the few Modern era animals living in the prehistoric world of Prehistoria with the only species living within it's jungles are Chimpanzees and Orangutans. Cavemen usually would call the two species of apes different names with Orangutans being called Sagoths while Chimpanzees are called Mangani.
